Terms of Service

The short version

  • Use AIWriter.xyz for your own reading and writing. Don't use it to break the law or to harm other people.
  • Only import things you have the right to import.
  • Your work stays yours. We process it to run the service; we don't train models on it.
  • The AI can be wrong. Check anything that matters — what you publish is on you.
  • We're early access and free right now. Things will change, and we'll tell you when they do.
  • New Zealand law applies.

Who we are

Anphase Ltd (Auckland, New Zealand) operates AIReader.xyz and AIWriter.xyz, together “Literacy OS”. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Anphase Ltd; “you” means the person using the service. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to use the service. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's consent, and they accept these terms with you. If you are using the service on behalf of a school or organisation, you confirm you may bind that organisation.

Accounts

You need an account to save documents, annotations, and drafts. Give us an email address you control and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to it. You can close your account at any time.

Acceptable use

While using the service, you agree not to:

  • upload, generate, or distribute unlawful content, or content that harasses, threatens, or exploits other people;
  • abuse the service — attacking it, overloading it, probing it for weaknesses, or interfering with anyone else's use of it;
  • scrape the service, or resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to it;
  • try to bypass rate limits or quotas, or automate access in ways we haven't agreed to;
  • attempt to access other users' documents, drafts, or account data, or to extract them from the model or the system;
  • import material you don't have the right to import. Third-party copyright applies here exactly as it does anywhere else: you must have the right to use a document — because you own it, because you're licensed to, or because your use is otherwise permitted — before you bring it into the service.

We may suspend or remove content or accounts that break these rules, and we may report unlawful activity where the law requires it.

AI assistance

The AI in Literacy OS produces suggestions, questions, and critique. Those outputs may be wrong, incomplete, or confidently mistaken. They are not legal, medical, financial, academic, or other professional advice, and they are not a substitute for reading the source yourself.

The dial is designed to keep authorship with you: in deep mode no model generates anything for you; in dialogue the AI asks rather than answers; in diabolical it critiques and will rewrite only what you explicitly ask it to rewrite. Whatever the setting, you decide what to keep and you are responsible for what you publish, submit, or rely on. Note that indexing your work for search sends a short excerpt to an embeddings provider at every dial position — the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what goes where.

Your content

You own what you bring and what you write. Nothing here transfers ownership to us.

You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, transmit, and process your content strictly to provide the service to you — rendering documents, saving drafts, generating annotations, sending excerpts to an embeddings provider so your library is searchable, and passing text to an AI provider when you ask for assistance. That licence exists to run the product and ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not train models on your content, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers. See the Privacy Policy for what we send where.

Availability

The service is in early access. We run it on a best-effort basis, without any guarantee of uptime, and features may change, move, or pause while we build. We may add limits — for example on AI requests — to keep the service usable for everyone. Export your work if you need a durable copy.

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is”, and we exclude implied warranties. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits, or opportunity. Nothing here limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or other law that cannot be excluded; where you use the service for business purposes, that Act does not apply.

Payments

The service is currently free. If we introduce paid plans, we will update these terms and give notice before any charge applies to you. We will not start charging for something you are already using without telling you first.

Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or that we must act on for legal or security reasons — with notice where it's practical to give it. On termination, your right to use the service ends and we delete your content in line with the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes we'll give notice in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of Auckland, New Zealand have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
