What this is
Literacy OS is two companions built on one idea. AIReader.xyz helps you read closely — question a text, map its structure, pressure-test its claims. AIWriter.xyz helps you write — find the argument, hear where the sentence goes slack, revise with intent. You're on AIWriter.xyz; the other one is AIReader.xyz.
The AI is there and not there
Most AI writing and reading tools answer for you. That's the easy product to build, and it's the one that leaves you thinking less than when you started. We built the opposite.
Every surface asks for your words before the AI's. Silence is a feature here, not a gap. When you want more presence, you turn the dial — and the dial is a request for sharper insight, never for more authorship.
- Deep — the AI is not there. Nothing is sent to a model. The page gives you a prompt in your own words: state the claim, turn this passage into a question.
- Dialogue — the AI is beside you. A Socratic tutor. It asks one good question, offers a nudge, reflects your words back. It doesn't answer its own questions.
- Diabolical — the AI is across the table. An expert critic. It names the exact weakness, the rule it breaks, and one way to fix it. It rewrites only what you explicitly ask it to rewrite, and it keeps your voice when it does.

Grounded in craft
The AI cites rules, not taste. When it flags a sentence it tells you which principle it's applying — and if no rule applies, it says so rather than inventing one. Those rules come from the craft tradition that long predates the models:
- Writing — Orwell's six rules, Zinsser's war on clutter, Strunk & White on the tight sentence, and the Toastmasters habits of structure, rehearsal, and evaluation.
- Reading — Adler's levels of reading, SQ3R for working through a text, and Socratic questioning for pressing on what a claim actually says.
